1) Our Tournaments

Where can I find past Tournament Results?

To view all past results, visit the "Results and Records" forum, where you can find all past records of GottaTalkPoker preserved for posterity.

Where can I find the games in the Poker Client? They are not displayed in the Tournament Page.

In this instance, you want to make sure you've checked all of the tournament tabs (be it private, special, regular, freeroll, etc.) in the poker client. If you still don't see it, then check to make sure that it isn't actually being held in another poker client. In the event of a schedule mishap, it will be explained in the Forums.

How do I get in on the CHOICE Freeroll?

You'll need to be a League Member in Good Standing to play in this game.

The password is not working, why?

Make sure you have the right password. (Is it the buy-in password or a custom freeroll password? Freeroll passwords will usually be issued in that weekend's Newsletter.)) Make sure you have the right tournament. Several GottaTalkPoker tourneys can be (and usually are) displayed at their host rooms at any given time.

Where can I find the Password?

At the top of the forums!

What is the Password?

All GottaTalkPoker Buyin Tournaments use the same password, found at the top of every forum page, right by the Events Listings. This password has not changed in years, and you can expect it to work ad infinitum. Remember it.

Most of our freerolls are by Invitation Only, for contest winners, leaderboard placement, or other equally easy things to earn. For Open Memeber passwords, they are often found in the Newsletters. VERY RARELY, some passwords will be released in our live chat in the hour preceding the tournament.

How do I get into the Tournament?

First, register as a member of the GottaTalkPoker forums. Once you're logged in, you can see the password posted at the top of every page of the forums, right by the Events listing! Keep reading to find out about perks and prizes playing in GTP tourneys gets you!

2) The GTP Leaderboards

Where can I find an Easy to Understand Leaderboard Primer?

We thought you'd never ASK!

Why, RIGHT HERE, of course!

How does the Monthly Leaderboard work?

For each tournament you play, you will be awarded points based on The Number of Players Registered divided by the Place you finished. We then multiply that number by 20. Scored freerolls are scored as twenty player games, regardless of turnout.

I played a game and I am not on the leaderboard, why?

Be aware, if your player name is not on file in your User Control Panel, your performances won't be scored. Make sure that your player name for the poker room hosting that game is on file there, where the fields ask for your player name information. If it is not there, the leaderboard script can't give you your points.

Where can I find Last Month's or Other Past Leaderboards?

To view past leaderboards, visit the "Results and Records" forums, where you can find all past records of GottaTalkPoker preserved for posterity.

Where can I find the Leaderboards?

There is a link at the top of the page, in the "Community" pull down menu. There you can find current, season to date, and all-time leaderboards.

What is the Leaderboard For?

The top 21 qualifying leaderboard spots every month qualify for TTR awards, with the top three winning large bounties for their efforts. Also, the invite lists to some exclusive freerolls are determined in large part by this leaderboard. Oh, and bragging rights, medals, and other fun community perks, natch!

How does the Individual Leaderboard work?

On the Individual Leaderboards, you can see how you or your fellow members fare at each specific game type. It is ranked by wins, only, and sorted by game type. To see a specific game type's rankings, simply click on the name of the game, at the top of the table.

How does the All Time Leaderboard work?

The All Time Leaderboard is scored the same as the Season To Date Leaderboard.

How does the Season to Date Leaderboard work?

The Season to Date Leaderboard is ranked by your "Season Ranking", which is arrived at by taking your total Tournament Points and adding a multiplier based on your "Win Percentage". (Your "Win Percentage" is arrived at by dividing your number of wins by your total number of games played.)

i.e., if you have 32672 points, and a win percentage of .226, your ranking will be 32672 (32672 x .226) = 40055

3) The Prize Center

Where do I GET my prize?

If you qualified for a prize, it will have been awarded directly into your TTR account here at GTP. You can access that, along with your past logs, via the dropdown menu at the top right hand side of the forum index page.

Once you have enough TTR for a Prize such as an entry coupon or cash transfer, visit the GTP Store and make your purchase!

How do I check if my prize has been processed yet?

If you have made a purchase in the GTP store, it will file a pending claim in the Prize Claim Center.

Whenever you visit the Prize Center, your pending prizes will appear FIRST at the top of the page. If you see your pending prize, it hasn't been processed yet. You will receive PM confirmation that they have been processed. Entry and cash coupons usually take a few days for the poker room to issue.

How long does it take to get my prize?

Entry and cash coupons are ordered on a biweekly/monthly basis, and we make every effort to pay out cash prizes as soon as possible. Visit the Prize Center at any time to check your prize's status.

I've been given a code to "claim" my prize. How do I do that?

You have 24 hours to redeem your prize codes, so visit the Prize Center as soon as possible. Once there, enter your code, and then your prize notes. After you've claimed your prize, your prize will be added to your TTR account here at GTP.

Where IS the Prize Center?

The link can be found at the top of the page, under the "Community" pulldown menu.

4) Carbon Converter

Do I need to use the Carbon Converter?

Well, no. BUT, if you want to qualify for various bounties and prizes that we offer, you'll be best off using this tool. Merge doesn't offer formatted text hand histories, so the only way to get those is to convert their files to a readable format. The Converter does this and pre-formats it for posting in our forums...perfect for advancing your chances of prizes, and improving your game overall.

How do I use the Carbon Converter?

The Carbon Converter is available at both the top of the forum pages, and in the "Poker Tools" pulldown menu at the top of the page. A step by step pictorial guide to using it can be found in the "How To..." forum.

5) The League

What is The League?

The League is the group of active competing members at GottaTalkPoker. Dues are $5 a month, and allows for freerolls invitations, special forum access, exclusive contests, in-game bounties, and more perks not available to casual members. You can read more about it HERE.

What does "Member in Good Standing" mean?

A League Member in Good Standing is simply a Leaguer who is up to date with his or her dues.

Do I HAVE to be in the League to be part of GTP?

Absolutely not! The League is about adding to your GottaTalkPoker experience, like mustard on a hot dog. Casual members can still enjoy our games, post in the open forums, and more, they simply don't get to compete on the leaderboards. For those hungrier for a real online beer league experience, that's where joining the League comes in.

6) Other Questions about GottaTalkPoker

How do I ask a question not answered here?

Simple! Either ask it in the "Support Center & Suggestion Box" Forum, or use the "Contact Form". You can find it in the "Help" pulldown menu. Then, as the Contact form says, "Your message will be read and replied to shortly in the "Support Center & Suggestion Box" Forum! Please check THERE soon and often for all replies!"

What are TTRs?

TTR is the fiat currency here at GTP. All our prizes are given out in TTR, and those TTR can then be used for a variety of means, from purchasing entry coupons to our tournaments, to cash transfers and Amazon gift cards. You can even trade them between other members as a form of "staking". Whatever you can do with the dollar you can do with the TTR here at GTP...well, mostly...
